about

Seeing someone on the street is sometimes more about who you want to see than who's really there..

lyrics

She came upon me like the whisper of a dream.
Her hair was perfect curls.
And she reminded me, in swagger and in hips as she dipped,
(and the flare of her jeans kissed the street), of Leslie.

I saw her leaning nonchalantly on the balustrade of a building dark and black.
And leading down the ancient street behind her, rude boys in deliverance, removing moving parts from moving cars, from the sleeping moving cars.

Ah, what you say?
Leslie is gone but I wouldn't be surprised if I saw her in your eyes today.

And though Napolean kept his hand inside his vest, just like him, I've been banished to the island of her face, just to swim in the eyes of Leslie.

Ah, what can you say?
Leslie is gone but I couldn't toe this line if I'd thought shed been unkind and left me standing all alone in this world so very cold, though I wouldn't be surprised if I saw her in your eyes today.
